1 The Non-Negotiables

🛑 Stop-work right (OHSR s.3.12)

Any worker may refuse unsafe work and must report it. Investigate and remedy, or document the disagreement. No retaliation, ever.

Lockout/Tagout before work on energized systems — personal non-combination lock per worker; verify isolation first (OHSR Part 10)
Stay outside electrical approach limits unless qualified & authorized; arc-flash PPE for permitted live work (Part 19, Table 19-1A)
Fall protection for heights; EWP harness rules; ladders at ~75°, secured, projecting ~1 m above landing (Part 13)
Hot-work permit + combustibles cleared 10 m + fire watch during and ≥30 min after; sprinkler-impairment protocol (BC Fire Code Div. B s.5.2)
Forklift/pedestrian separation; eye-contact confirmation; never under an elevated load (Part 16)
Confirm refrigerant type & ventilation before entering cold/refrigeration areas (Part 5)
Fatigue is impairment — self-report; high-risk tasks front-loaded; cap consecutive nights (OHSR s.4.19; CCOHS)
Egress and walkways clear at all times; spills addressed immediately with signage

3 Quality Criteria (universal)

Work to written criteria, not opinion. Each task has a defined pass/fail gate; meet it before marking done.
Two-gate sign-off. Employee completes → site manager confirms in-progress & completed scope → owner/client final sign-off.
Finish matches existing. Patch/paint/finish blends with surrounding surfaces; no visible defect at normal viewing distance.
Site left clean. In an occupied/retail facility, the area is indistinguishable from how it was found — or better. Visible mess is a dispute risk.
Photo evidence. Before / during critical steps / after — linked to the log record.
Code compliance. Electrical to BC Electrical Code / TSBC; building work to applicable BC codes.

4 Incident Reporting (BC)

⚖️ WorkSafeBC reporting

Serious injury or fatality: immediate notification to WorkSafeBC (WCA s.172); preserve the scene except to aid injured / prevent further injury. Preliminary investigation report within 48 hours, full report within 30 days (WCA s.173). Verify subcontractors are WCB-registered and in good standing.
